Caporale, Andrea. Six solos for violoncello & basso continuo, c1982: v. 2, cover (Andrea Caporale) about the composer (came to London from Italy in 1735; date and place of his birth are unknown; died before the 1746 publication of his sonatas; Johann Ernst Galliard, whose own set of six sonatas was published in the same edition, laments the loss of his colleague, though that may refer either to Caporale's death or his departure from London) page 1 (A. Caporale (ca. 1700-ca. 1746))
Caporale, Andrea. Sonata d-Moll, für Violoncello und Basso continuo, c1965: title page (Andrea Caporale, 1700-1756)
Grove music online, September 17, 2013 (Caporale, Andrea; flourished London, mid-18th century; Italian cellist and composer; nothing is known of him until about 1735, when he went to London; in 1746 a set of 12 cello sonatas containing six each by J.E. Galliard and Caporale was published in London, but from Galliard's dedicatory address to the Prince of Wales it would appear that Caporale had by then left the country; eight years later Caporale was in Dublin, where he is mentioned between September 1754 and February 1757)
MGG, 2., neubearb. Ausg. (Caporale, Andrea; birth date unknown, died not before 1757 (contrary to many sources), probably in London; cellist and composer; probably born in Italy and came to London in 1734; he was in Dublin from September 1754 to June 1755; it can be inferred from many sources that he died around 1756 in London, but according to Faulkner's journal no. 3107, he was in a concert in Dublin on February 3, 1757)
Lambooij, Henk. A cellist's companion, c2007 (Caporale, Andrea; flourished 1735-1757, London; emigrated from Italy to London in 1735; he apparently left England, and was in Dublin from September 1754 to June 1755, and in 1757 (review in Faulkner's journal, no. 3107, February 3))
