Dictionnaire de biographie française, t. 5, 1951 (Beaumont (Christophe de), called Beaumont du Repaire, archbishop of Paris; born at the château of La Roque (Meyrals, Dordogne), July 26, 1703; destined for the church; received tonsure in 1723, studied in Toulouse and Paris, ordained in 1734; bishop of Bayonne, 1741; then archbishop of Vienne, 1754 [error for 1745] and archbishop of Paris, Aug. 25; strongly opposed to the Jansenists, which brought him into confilct with the Parlement de Paris; exiled from Paris, Dec. 3, 1754-Oct. 1, 1757, to Conflans, and Jan. 4, 1758-Oct. 1759, to the château of La Roque, and again in 1764, to the Trappists in the diocese of Séez; spent his last years in Conflans, but returned occasionally to Paris, as in Oct. 1781; died on Dec. 12)
