Born in England, Dawson came to the United States in 1905, became a specialist in Canadian affairs for English newspapers, lived in New Jersey, and later in California. He first won an audience with his novels The Garden Without Walls (1913) and The Raft (1914). Among his other novels are The Kingdom Round the Corner (1921), The Coast of Folly (1924), and The Moon Through Glass (1934). A remarkable novelette of his, The Unknown Soldier (1929), tells of the return of Jesus to earth during World War I. He also published a collection of poems, Florence on a Certain Night (1914)) |
