Wikipedia, March 5, 2015 (Hans Thieme; born 10 August 1906 in Naunhof; died 3 October 2000 in Freiburg; German jurist, legal historian and professor; Hans Thieme was the son of theologian Karl Thieme senior (1862-1932); he studied law at the Universities of Basel, Munich, Berlin and Leipzig; in 1938 he became a full professor at the University of Breslau, and in 1940 a professor at the University of Leipzig; after his military service from 1942 to 1945, he was a professor at the University of Göttingen, starting in 1946; in 1953 he was a full professor at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg, where he was rector from 1960 to 1961; he was given emeritus status in 1974; from 1954 to 1977 Thieme was co-editor of the Zeitschrift der Savigny-Stiftung für Rechtsgeschichte (ZRG); he was a member of the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and corresponding member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences)
