ʼEncyclopaedia Iranica (online), viewed on October 6, 2021: Solaymān I (Born early 1057/February or March 1648; died 6 Duʼl-ḥejja, 1105/29 July 1694; 8th ruler of the Safavid dynasty (reigned 1666-1694); oldest son of Shah ʻAbbās II, grew up in a harem; given name was Sām Mirzā; knew Turkish; when his father died in 1666, there was some debate as to whether he or his 7-years-younger brother, Ḥamza Mirzā, would succeed; Sām Mirzā was enthroned under the name Ṣafi II at age 19 in Isfahan, but because his early reign was problematic (money troubles, illness, earthquake), he was re-enthroned in 1668, as "Abuʼl-Moẓaffar Abuʼl-Manṣur Shah Solaymān Ṣafawi Musawi Bahādor Khan, with the name Solaymān referring to the wise and judicious King Solomon" )
