African American National Biography, accessed November 26, 2014, via Oxford African American Studies Center database: (Bernhardt, Clyde Edric; Clyde Edric Barron Bernhardt; Ed Barron; jazz musician, trombonist, jazz singer, rhythm and blues musician / singer; born 11 July 1905 in Gold Hill, California, United States; in 1928 joined the Whitman Sisters in Harlem; actively played and sang in ensembles, including King Oliver's band, Marion Hardy's Alabamians (1931) and Billy Fowler's band (1932-1933); became a member of Vernon Andrade's dance orchestra (1934 to 1937); joinedthe orchestra of pianist Luis Russell as singer at the Apollo Theater in Harlem (1944); led the Blue Blazers (1946-1948); played in Joe Garland's dance orchestra (1952-1970); led the Harlem Blues and Jazz Band(1972-1979); joined Barry Martyn's Legends of Jazz (1979); died May 20, 1986 in Newark, New jersey, United States)
