Kentucky encyclopedia, ©1992: page 776 (George Robertson, congressman, born November 18, 1790 in Mercer County, Ky. Attended Transylvania University and studied law under lawyers in Frankfort and Lancaster. Admitted to the bar September 1809 and set up a practice in Lancaster. Served as a Republican in the U.S. House of Representatives 1817-1821 and in the Kentucky House from 1822-1827. Appointed to the Kentucky court of appeals 1828-1843, then resigned to practice law in Lexington. Elected again to the Kentucky House 1848 and 1851-1853. Taught law at Transylvania University 1834-1857. Served again in the Kentucky court of appeals 1864-1871. Died in Lexington on May 16, 1874. The county created in 1867 out of parts of Nicholas, Harrison, Bracken and Mason counties was named in his honor.)
