Biography/History noteRoger Lea MacBride, also known as R. L. MacBride, (b. August 6, 1929, New Rochelle, New York-d. March 5, 1995, Miami Beach, Florida) was an author, lawyer, and politician. He graduated from Princeton University and Harvard Law School, and joined the Wall Street firm of White & Case. MacBride later opened a small practice in Vermont, where he also served a term in the State Legislature. In 1968 he became the guardian of the "Little House" series of books, which he helped develop into the 1970's television program, "Little House on the Prairie." He moved to Virginia and became involved with the Libertarian Party, running for President in 1976. MacBride was the author of several books, including children's books. He is interred in Wicks Cemetery in Halifax, Vermont.
