Wikipédia, l'encyclopédie libre, 19 April 2017 (François-Augustin de Paradis de Moncrif; born 1687 in Paris, where he died 19 November 1770; French writer and poet; also musician and actor, courtier; under the protection of Jean Philippe d'Orléans and others; secretary of comte d'Argenson, then secrétaire des commandements of comte-abbé de Clermont, reader of Queen Marie Leszczyńska (1734), and finally secrétaire général de l'administration des Postes, offices that he occupied until his death; his most famous work was Histoire des chats (1727), a pastiche of pedantry presented as a history and defense of cats, with satirical intent (not always discerned))
