Trained at the Institute of Catholic Art in Covington, then at the Royal Academy in Munich. Taught in Polling, Bavaria and in Italy. Lived in Paris, France then returned to Covington, Ky. after the death of his wife. Taught at the Cincinnati Art Academy beginning in 1900, where he served as director from 1904 until his death, January 3, 1919 in Covington, Ky.)
