Scanlon, Jennifer. American women historians, 1700s-1990s, 1996: page 182 (Bertha Haven Putnam, 1872-1960. Medieval historian. Born in New York City to George Haven Putnam, head of G.P. Putnam's Sons. Received BA from Bryn Mawr College in 1893 and taught Latin there until her mother's death in 1895. Attended Columbia University 1895-1897 and 1900 to 1903. Earned a PhD in 1908 and became an instructor in history at Mount Holyoke College until her retirement in 1937. Author of multiple books. Died in South Hadley, Massachusetts on February 26, 1960.)
