Kentucky encyclopedia, ©1992: pages 718-719 (Robert Peter, physician and geologist, born in Launceton, Cornwall, England on January 21, 1805 and emigrated to the United States in 1817 with his family. First settled in Baltimore, then to Pittsburgh. Became a naturalized citizen of the United States in 1828. Moved to Lexington, Ky. in 1832 where he taught at Transylvania University 1833-1857 and served as librarian and dean of the faculty. Between 1850 and 1853, was a professor of chemistry at the Kentucky School of Medicine in Louisville. Was professor at Kentucky University 1865-1878 and at Agricultural & Mechanical College 1878-1887. Died April 26, 1894.)
