Attended Transylvania University 1795-1797 and was admitted to the bar in 1801. Opened a private practice in Franklin County, Ky. in 1801. Elected to represent Mercer County in the state legislature in 1800 where he served until 1812, then again 1819-1821. Served in state senate 1821-1824. Served as lieutenant governor of Kentucky 1824-1928 then returned to the Kentucky legislature 1828-1832, then again in the Kentucky Senate 1841-1842. Spent the rest of his life on his Mercer County, Ky. farm. Died March 12, 1849.) |
