Swedish Wikipedia, viewed 24 Nov. 2017 (Johan August Udden (originally Uddén ), born March 19, 1859 in Lekåsa socken, Skaraborg County, died January 5, 1932, was a Swedish-American geologist. Uddén emigrated with his parents in 1861 to Minnesota, U.S.A. He became a student at Augustana College in 1881 and was employed there as Oscar II Professor of Geology and Natural History from 1888 to 1911. In 1911 he was employed as a geologist at the University of Texas Bureau of Economic Geology and Technology and became Director in 1915. He performed a large number of field investigations, partly for US Geological Surveys, and on behalf of the states of Illinois, Iowa and Texas.)
