Carbonelli, Giovanni Stefano. Sonate da camera a violino e violone o cembalo, 1729, 2011- : volume 1, page v-vi (Giovanni Stefano Carbonelli (1699/1700-1773); Italian violinist-composer; exact place of birth unknown; 30 years old in March 1730; moved to London some time before 1719 and in 1735 became a naturalized British subject; he used an anglicized form of his name, John Stephen Carbonell, for all purposes except ones directly related to music (and sometimes even then); the only music by him to have survived is a set of twelve privately published violin sonatas (Sonate da camera, 1729); entered the wine business in the 1740s; died February 11, 1773 (not in 1772, as reported by Sir John Hawkins))
