Sharp, Nancy. American legislative leaders in the Midwest, 1911-1994, 1997: page 243 (Howard Richard Wood, born November 26, 1887 in Dexter, Minnesota. Moved with his family to Ward County, N.D. in 1901. A Republican, in 1915 he became one of the first members of the Nonpartisan League and was elected to the North Dakota House of Representatives in 1916. In 1918 he ran successfully for lieutenant governor of North Dakota, serving until 1922. Moved to Fargo, N.D., then to Portland, Oregon. Died in Portland on August 5, 1958.)
