Graduated from his father's Bingham Military School in Asheville in 1888; attended the University of North Carolina and University of Virginia. Taught at his father's school 1892-1896, then moved to Louisville, Ky. Received law degree from the University of Louisville in 1897. Was a Democratic judge in the Jefferson County circuit court. Served as ambassador to England in 1933. Died in Baltimore, Maryland on December 18, 1937.)
