Sharp, Nancy. American legislative leaders in the Midwest, 1911-1994, 1997: pages 120-121 (Oscar Wilhelm Hagen born March 7, 1884 in Walcott, Dakota Territory (now North Dakota). Settled in McKenzie County, N.D. where he developed a grain and livestock farm. Owned and operated the weekly "McKenzie County Leader" in the late 1930s. Became an early member of the Nonpartisan League faction of the Republican Party and was elected to the North Dakota House of Representatives in 1936 and 1938. Successfully ran for lieutenant governor of North Dakota in 1940. Died in Watford City, North Dakota on September 12, 1945.)
