Rhythms of a century: page 62 (Leith Stevens, a 1927 Conservatory graduate who also studied at Juilliard, had a long and distinguished career as a Hollywood composer. Stevens was raised in Kansas City, then went on to work as musical director for several radio variety shows through the 1940s. During World War II, he served as director of radio programs for the Office of War Information in the Southwest Pacific theater. Stevens was musical director for Paramount TV at the time of his death. He died in 1970 after suffering a massive heart attack.) |
