Earned BS in civil engineering in 1882 and a MA in 1885 from State University of Iowa while working as a draftsman in the land office of the United States Surveyor General at Cheyenne, Wyoming. Author of multiple books on Wyoming history as well as college professor, administrator and librarian. First woman admitted to the Wyoming bar, in 1898. Died in 1936 in Laramie, Wyoming.)
