Wikipedia, March 4, 2019 (Richard Caton Woodville Jr.; English artist and illustrator, best known as a prolific and effective painter of battle scenes in the late 19th and early 20th centuries; son of Richard Caton Woodville Sr., also a talented artist; studied at the Düsseldorf school of painting, then briefly in Russia and in Paris under Jean-Léon Gérôme; spent most of his career working for the Illustrated London News; experienced battle first-hand when sent to report on the Russo-Turkish War (1877-1878) and the Anglo-Egyptian War (1882); also recreated historical scenes in oil and watercolour; committed suicide in his studio at St. John's Wood, London)
