| Biography/History note | CSIRO, the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization, was established by the Science and Industry Research Act of 1949. Under the Act, CSIRO replaced the former Council for Scientific and Industrial Research established in 1926. In 1986 the CSIRO changed the spelling of its name, with the word "Organization" becoming "Organisation". |
