Ukr. rad. ent︠s︡ykl.: v. 8, p. 354 (Pidvolochysʹk; city in Ternopilʹsʹka oblastʹ. First mentioned in documents of 1463. After the first partition of Poland in 1772 Pidvolochysʹk was seized by Austria-Hungary under whose jurisdiction it remained until the fall of the empire in 1918. In 1919 the city was seized by Polish forces who incorporated it into Poland. In 1939, as part of Western Ukraine, it was reunited with Soviet Ukraine)
