Biography/History noteVarnenska oblast existed from 1987 to 1999. It was formed in 1987 by the merger of three okrŭgs: Tolbukhinski okrŭg, Shumenski okrŭg, and Varnenski okrŭg. In 1999, Varnenska oblast was split into three small oblasts: Dobrich, Shumen, and Varna.
