He co-founded the Nethula Journal of Contemporary Literature (1978); formed the poetry performance group Cinque, Washington D.C. (1983). He was awarded the National Library Association's Gay, Lesbian, and Bisexual New Author Award (1992); was a visiting scholar at Getty Center for the History of Art and the Humanities, Santa Monica, California (1993). He died 04 November 1995 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States)
