FRA website Aug. 30, 2017 (Beate Winkler is a human rights defender, painter and author. She was the Founding Director of the European Monitoring Centre on Racism and Xenophobia, which became the EU's Fundamental Rights Agency. She was also Managing Director of the Union of German Architects (BDA), Berlin and Principle Advisor to the Federal Government's Commissioner for Migration, Refugees and Integration. She has worked in the field of migration, integration and intercultural dialogue for more than 35 years. She has published widely on inter-cultural issues in magazines, specialist literature, and weeklies and is editor of a number of books on the topics of migration, integration, intercultural dialogue and change processes. Her last book was 'Our Chance. Courage, Actions and Vision in the Crisis'. Her paintings have been shown in exhibitions such as the Austrian Cultural Forum, Berlin. She hopes that the Forum will make a strong contribution to a new Human Rights Culture where everybody is included in our society - and feels like this)
