He studied at Kentucky State College; worked with Kentucky Derbies group (1927) and the Zack Whyte's Chocolate Beau Brummels band (1928-1931); recorded with Clarence Williams (1930 and 1933); joined the Willie Lewis and His Entertainers band (1934-1938) and Louis Armstrong's band in Europe (1934); returned to Willie Lewis's group; worked in Egypt with the Harlem Rhythmakers (1939-1940); became a radio actor in the series Casey, Crime Photographer (1942-1951); played regularly at the Le Reuben Bleu, and at the Blue Angel (1943-1950). He died 08 March 1967 in Cleveland, Ohio, United States)
