Volume I, 1994: page xxii (the Ugaritic Baal cycle; survives on six cuneiform tablets; ancient name of this work is unknown except in the form of the superscription Lbʻl, "concerning Baal," hence the modern name "the Baal cycle"; the first two tablets present the battle of the storm-god Baal with his enemy Yamm; the next two tablets recount how Baal's palace came to be built; the last two tablets describe Baal's struggle against Mot, whose name means "Death")
