Die Matrikel der Akademie und Universität Bamberg, 2014: Teil 1, title page (Universität Bamberg) Teil 1, Vorwort, page 9 ("Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg; Bamberg University ("Bamberger Universität") has a very checkered history. Today's University of Bamberg not only carries the name of the old university, it also sees itself as consistent in follow-up and in the long academic tradition in Bamberg. From the Academia Ottoniana founded 1647 as the classic four-faculties university, after the reduction in the secularization to lyceum, philosophical-theological university and polytechnic up to today's University with a sharp profile in the arts and humanities, social sciences and economics and human sciences, complemented by application-oriented computer sciences, there is a unique university history of continuity and change.")
