McCall Sr., (drums, percussion, vocals) and Michael Cooper (rhythm guitar, lead vocals); by 1971 they expanded into 7 musicians calling themselves Con-Funk-Shun after a song by the instrumental ensemble The Nite-Liters; in 1973 the band relocated to Memphis, Tennessee; in 1974 the band officially changed their name to Con Funk Shun; signed onto Mercury Records releasing several successful albums including many certified gold albums; active between 1976-1986)
