The senior retired member of the Museum staff, he joined the Museum as a preparator in 1902 at the age of 26 and became Preparator-in-Chief in 1937. An artist by temperament, skilled in the use of his hands, he devoted most of his early career to the preparation and mounting of the skeletons and hides of modern vertebrates. Later he specialized in fossil skeletons. He retired in 1946.") |
