Edward Cucuel Gallery of Art, WWW site, August 26, 2013 (Edward Cucuel; Edward Alfred Cucuel (1875-1954); at the age of 14 attended the School of Design in San Francisco; went to Paris and studied at the Academie Julian; enrolled at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts as a student of Jean-Leon Gerome; settled in New York where he obtained work as an illustrator; in 1907 moved to Munich; joined the Scholle group of artists led by Leo Putz; from 1928-1934, Edward Cucuel began to spend winters in New York, returning to Germany for the summer months; when Word War II started in 1939, Edward Cucuel left Germany for good and settled in Pasadena, California, where he died in 1954)
