On November 17, 2005 he presented De Dikke Van Dam, a 735-page book about food based on his articles. He has placed his gastronomic library of sixty thousand titles in the Gastronomic Library Foundation (SGB), which he set up together with culinary historian Joop Witteveen and of which he was chairman until his death.
