He received his PhD and habilitation (venia legendi) from the University of Vienna and was a research associate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison as well at the Laboratoire d'Anthropologie Sociale, Paris, and a senior fellow of the European Institutes for Advanced Studies (EURIAS) at the Collegium de Lyon. His research interests include post-natural anthropology, anthropology of conflict, indigenous modernities, and processes of transformation of world conceptions and social relations.
