These diets were established in Lviv, Galicia and Chernivtsi, Bukovyna in 1861. Any laws that were passed had to be approved by the Emperor. Because of its structure Poles deprived the Ukrainian population of its fair representation in the Galician Diet. The official language of the Galician Diet was Polish; v. 3 (article under Parliament: single chamber provincial diets were also elected on a curial system in Galicia and Bukovyna)
