(Radulphus Ardens) p. 2 (preacher and theologian; now dated by scholars to the late twelfth century) p. 4 (probably born in Beaulieu near Bressuire before 1140) p. 6 (composed his most important work, Speculum universale, sometime after 1192 but died around 1200)
Speculum universale, 2011: t.p. (Radulfi Ardentis) p. xxi-xxiv (Radulfus Ardens; in the earliest manuscript of the Speculum universale he is named merely "Radulfus"; the epithet "Ardens" became associated with his name in the late 14th and early 15th centuries. Earlier sources often give Beaulieu-sur-Bressuire as his place of birth, but it is just as likely that he was born in Beaulieu-les-Loches or Beaulieu-sur-Roche, all of which are located near Poitiers; his Speculum universale was written after 1179, most likely in the 1180's and 1190's; he died on a 12th of September, probably around 1200)
