Wikipedia, viewed 13 Oct. 2016 (Henryk Zygalski, b. 15 July 1908 in Poznań, d. 30 August 1978 in Liss; Polish mathematician and cryptologist who worked on breaking Enigma ciphers before and during World War II; from September 1932 a civilian cryptologist with Biuro Szyfrów; he worked there with Marian Rejewski and Jerzy Różycki; together they developed methods and equipment for breaking Enigma messages; in 1938 he designed the "perforated sheets", known as "Zygalski sheets", a manual device for finding Enigma settings; after the war he remained in exile in the United Kingdom and worked as a lecturer in mathematical statistics at the University of Surrey)
