Wikipedia, viewed 6 March 2017 (Daredevil, real name Matthew Michael "Matt" Murdock, is a fictional superhero in comic books published by Marvel. The character's first appearance was in Daredevil #1 in April 1964 and has been a mainstay in the Marvel universe since then across all platforms including comics, movies, television, video games, and toy merchandizing. Character biography: Born and raised in Hell's Kitchen, NYC, Murdock was blinded in an accident as a child, receiving his superpowers -- heightened senses, including echolocation -- as a consequence. As an adult, he is a lawyer practicing in Manhattan who operates as the costumed hero Daredevil, first secretly and then openly after his dual identity is made public. Daredevil has also been based in San Francisco, once in the 1970s and again in the 2010s, and has been a member of both the Avengers and the Defenders, but is primarily known as a New York City fixture and the guardian of the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood, earning the epithets The Devil of Hell's Kitchen and the Man Without Fear.)
