Dictionary of African Biography, accessed February 25, 2015, via Oxford African American Studies Center database: (Marques, Ana Clara Guerra; dancer, choreographer / dance director; born 02 November 1962 in Luanda, Angola; started to take classical ballet lessons at the Dance Academy of Luanda (1970); studied dance and pedagogy at the Escola Superior de Dança de Lisbon (1990); pursued a master's degree in anthropology of space (artistic performance and dance) at the Department of Social and Human Science of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa; became the director of the only dance training facility left in the country (1975); returned to Angola to set up the first professional contemporary dance company, Companhia de Dança Contemporânea de Angola (CDCA); a member of the International Dance Council set up by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO); lectures in anthropology at the Agostinho Neto University in Luanda, and works at the Angolan Ministry of Education and Culture; received the Identidade Prize by the União de Artistas e Compositores (Angolan Union of Artists and Composers, UNAC) (1995); was awarded the Diploma de Honra (2006); won a National Culture and Arts Prize)
