Born in Isfahan, Iran to father Tsiyon Ezri who was a Jewish community leader and Zionist. At the age of 15 he organized Heḥaluts Zionist youth groups in Isfahan and later in Teheran. In 1945 and 1946 he worked with his father to facilitate illegal immigration to Palestine from Iraq and Iran through Iran. He Immigrated to Israel in 1950 and worked for the Jewish Agency on the absorption of immigrants from Iran and Iraq. Founded the Farsi newspaper Kokhav ha-Mizraḥ. In 1951 he consolidated a group of organizations of immigrants from Iran in Israel. In 1958 he was deputy ambassador to Iran and in 1968 became ambassador until 1973. In 1999 he received the Yaḳir Yerushalayim prize. In 2001 he published his autobiography, Mi va-khem mi-kol ʻamo, in Hebrew and Farsi. Lived in Savyon with his wife and children. Was interested in Bible and Judaic art. Supported Israeli hospitals Biḳur Ḥolim, Shaʻare Tsedek, and Miśgav la-Dakh. Worked for closer ties between Iran and Israel by bringing Israeli leaders and academics to visit Iran and Iranian Moslem leaders to visit their counterparts in Israel. Many honors were bestowed upon him for his work by the Iranian government and by Israel. He founded the World Organization of Iranian Jews in Israel in1982 to establish a connection between those who were previously in Israel and those who came after the Iranian revolution. It also worked to unite Iranian Jews in the US, Europe and Iran. He collected funds through his Iranian connections for various institutions in Israel such as hospitals, schools, and synagogues. He founded and edited Kokhav ha-Mizraḥ he-ḥadash which featured news of Iranian Jewish communities and encouraged publication of literature in Farsi.
