Biography/History noteShe joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1968 and started her diplomatic career in Vienna in 1970. She served as a diplomat in Hanoi, Mexico City, Vienna and Hamburg. She was India's ambassador to Belarus, Lithuania and Portugal. After retirement in December 2003 she settled in Delhi and is now working as a volunteer in Parivartan. This organization is involved in fighting corruption through the use of the Right to Information. Madhu Bhaduri has written four novels and several short stories in Hindi.
