Biography/History noteRaymond Stephen McKeough (b. April 29, 1888, Chicago, Illinois-d. December 16, 1979, Chicago, Illinois) was a government official and a Representative in the United States Congress. He attended public and parochial schools and graduated from De La Salle Institute in 1905. McKeough worked in the Union Stock Yards from 1905 to 1909, did clerical work with a railroad company from 1909 to 1925, worked in investment securities from 1925 to 1929, and was a broker from 1929 to 1934. He was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1940, and was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-fourth and to the three succeeding Congresses, from January 3, 1935 to January 3, 1943. McKeough was not a candidate for renomination in 1942, and was an unsuccessful candidate for election to the United States Senate. After his time in Congress, he worked as a regional administrator of the Office of Price Administration in Chicago, Illinois from February 5, 1943, to January 15, 1944. On October 11, 1945 he was appointed a member of the United States Maritime Commission, where he served until 1950. McKeough also worked as a Commissioner for the International Claims Commission of the United States from 1951 to 1953, and briefly worked with Great American Oil Company in 1956. He was appointed administrative assistant to the State's attorney, criminal division, in Chicago, Illinois from December 3, 1956 until he resigned on December 3, 1960, and went on to work in the insurance business. McKeough resided in Chicago, Illinois until his death. He is interred at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleum in Evergreen Park, Illinois.
