Kentucky encyclopedia, ©1992: page 616 (Kate Seston Matthews, photographer, born August 13, 1870 in New Albany, Indiana. When she was very young, she and her family moved to Peewee Valley, Kentucky. When she was sixteen, she spent time in Vermont visiting her sister and brother-in-law, who introduced her to photography. Her photos were published in several magazines and were used in advertisements of the Old Flour Mill Company and the J. B. Williams Company as well as in Annie Fellows Johnston's books The Little Colonel and Land of the Little Colonel. Died July 5, 1956.)
