Kentucky encyclopedia, ©1992: pages 610-611 (Thomas Alexander Marshall, congressman, was born near Versailles in Woodford County, Ky. on January 15, 1794. Received his BA from Yale in 1815, was admitted to the bar and began to practice in Frankfort in 1816. Moved to Paris, Bourbon Co. in 1819. Served two terms in the state House of Representatives in 1827 and 1828 and was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from March 4, 1831 to March 3, 1835. Was a member of the Whig party and served as a judge on the Kentucky court of appeals. Worked as a professor in the Transylvania University law department from 1836 to 1849. Served in the Kentucky House from 1863 to 1865. Died in Louisville on April 17, 1871.)
