Delaware, Ohio about 1776; joined the U.S. Navy; served on the USS Constellation and was Boatswain's Mate on the Philadelphia during the Barbary Wars; injured while defending Lieut. Stephen Decatur against Barbary pirates on 16 Feb. 1804; retired from the U.S. Navy in Jan. 1836; died Dec. 3, 1838 at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Washington D.C.)
