Roy Lichtenstein Foundation Photography Archives Web site, Apr. 22, 2013 (The foundation's Harry Shunk Archive is comprised of two collections of photographic material; the Shunk-Kender Photography Collection contains the work of Harry Shunk and János (Jean) Kender as a collaborative team; the Harry Shunk Photography Collection contains the early and late work of Harry Shunk as an individual. From 1958 to 1973, Shunk partnered with Kender, during which time they formally credited their photography as "Shunk-Kender." Shunk and Kender left Paris for Canada in 1967 and then relocated to New York City. Their creative partnership was formally dissolved in late 1973 with Shunk retaining the photographic archive. János [Jean] Kender was born in Baja, Hungary, July 6, 1937; fled to France in 1956; died December 5, 2009, age 72, in West Palm Beach, Fla.)
