Kentucky encyclopedia, ©1992: page 714 (Thomas H. Paynter, U. S. senator. Attended Centre College for a brief time, read law and was admitted to the bar in 1872. Served six years as a prosecuting attorney in Greenup County. Elected to serve in the U. S. House of Representatives March 4, 1889-January 5, 1895. Served on Kentucky's Court of Appeals from 1895 to 1906, then elected to U.S. Senate March 4, 1907-March 3, 1913. Retired to Frankfort, Ky. and resumed his law practice. Died March 8, 1912.)
