German Wikipedia, viewed Aug. 29, 2012 (Fritz Ohlhof, occasionally Fritz Ohlhoff; socialist politician and trade unionist; member of the Presskommission of "Vorwärts," the SPD's central organ; in 1923 became editor of "Volkszeitung," the daily SPD newspaper in Mainz; elected to the Hessian Landtag on the SPD ticket in Nov. 1931, but immediately joined the new SAPD party; during the Nazi era, imprisoned from 1936-1945 for conspiracy to commit high treason: first by the Gestapo in Frankfurt/Main, then in Zuchthaus Butzbach, and from Dec. 1943 until the 1945 liberation in KZ Buchenwald; belonged to a SAPD group in Buchenwald; joined the KPD in 1945 and founded the Gemeinnützigen Wiederaufbau-Gesellschaft in Mainz; died in a car accident in Feb. 1946)
