Biography/History noteOdo, Earl of Kent (approximately 1030-1097) was half-brother to William the Conqueror and Bishop of Bayeux from his teens until his death. He was an ordained Christian cleric, warrior, and statesman, who participated in the Norman Conquest at the Battle of Hastings and probably commissioned the Bayeux Tapestry. In 1067, he became the Earl of Kent. However, in 1082 he was imprisoned for his role in planning a military expedition to Italy.
