Wikipedia, Aug. 5, 2013 : Menashe Oppenheim (Menasha, Menasze Oppenheim, sometimes used pseudonym Mieczyslaw); Polish-Jewish singer, actor, composer, songwriter, collector and performer of folk songs; b. 1905, eastern borderlands of Poland; in the early thirties performed at revi-teater in Kovne (Kaunas, now in Lithuania); in Feb. 1939 left for the United States to star in a film; survived the Holocaust in the USSR-occupied part of eastern Poland; after 1945 emigrated to South America; from 1940-1960 he worked in various Yiddish theaters in the United States; d. Oct. 23, 1973; buried in the Mount Hebron Cemetery, Queens, New York.
